OUR SERVICES

In today's world, we are all busy with work, family life and other day to day obligations. Being a pet guardian is a serious commitment that requires your attention, patience, knowledge, and love. There are also financial obligations that you must be prepared for such as food expenses, vet visits and day care/boarding, if necessary.

Pet Matchmaker was created to assist individuals in making the right choices when looking for a pet. We work on behalf of our clients to find them the perfect match for their situation. Pet Matchmaker is not a shelter or a drop-off center and we do not sell pets. We are a service that works in harmony with over-crowded Rescue Breed Groups and shelters that need to place pets in good homes.

Please note that we do not work with pet stores. Dogs sold in pet stores come from puppymills. A good breeder would not sell their puppies to a pet store since they have no control over where they will end up. Therefore, buying from pet stores help financially support the puppymills and allows them to stay in business. Dogs used for breeding in the mills are bred repeatedly, over and over again without regard to their health. If the adult dogs producing the puppies aren’t healthy then it only makes sense that the puppies they give birth to won’t be healthy either. The dogs are forced to live in filthy conditions and are not socialized. When the puppies are born, they are brought into these same conditions before being sold to the brokers who, in turn, sell them to the pet stores. The pet stores then sell them to people without educating the person or asking the questions necessary to determine if this would be a good match.

Our focus is on finding sheltered animals a forever home. Our services include:

Personalized Screening:
The first step we will go through together is a detailed screening. This information will allow us to get to know you and find out what type of pet you are looking for. We use this information to ensure we find the best match for your individual situation.

Research: We do endless hours of research and follow up with Rescue Breed Groups and shelters around the country . Finding a pet to adopt can require countless hours surfing the Internet and visiting Rescue Breed Groups and shelters. Partnering with Pet Matchmaker takes the burden off the client while allowing us to use our expertise and vast network of contacts. When we find a possible match, we research the behavior and health history (if available) of the animal. This ensures that each of our clients is getting the best pet possible for their situation.

Education: We provide education so that you are fully aware of what you can expect from the type of animal you are about to adopt. Often times, this is the most overlooked - yet most critical - part of the adoption process. We will provide you with behavioral traits, exercise requirements, preventative health tips, certain warning signs you should be aware of, basic arrangements you should always make in case of emergency and other helpful tips that you may not have considered.

Networking: In addition to our many contacts at the facilities, we are also actively involved in many organizations promoting the health and welfare of animals. By constantly having our “ear to the ground” we are afforded another valuable resource for finding and placing pets.

Continued Support: Our commitment to our customers and pets we place doesn’t stop when they are united. We are always available to answer any questions you may have and we routinely follow up with our clients shortly after the adoption takes place. Of course, we always welcome pictures and look forward to hearing about your life with your new addition.

Pet Matchmaker offers two options for finding your pet. The first is a do-it-yourself search where you can use our link resources to locate a pet. The second option is to allow us to do the leg work and research for you.

Do-It-Yourself Search (visit)
When you select the do-it-yourself search, you will be directed to our Partners page where you will find links to shelters and rescue breed groups. Please note that we are in the process of adding many additional links in the near future.
